GET INVOLVED
This city belongs to Durham. Help our neighbors find their place in it.
Ending homelessness is a community effort with a role for everyone — property owners, funders, providers, leaders, people with lived experience, and neighbors. Here’s how to plug in, and a single form if you’re not sure where you fit.
Build our neighborhoods
A unit is the single most important piece of this work. Everything else builds on a door that opens.
PROPERTY OWNERS
Open your door
Rent to a household exiting homelessness. Rent on time and in full, a real person on the phone, and shared risk — backed by damage coverage and vacancy protection. The single most important lever in the whole framework is a unit.
FUNDERS & PHILANTHROPY
Fund the next home
Give to the $5M community investment campaign, or align your grants with the framework’s priorities. Private dollars move faster than public funding cycles, so the work can act the moment an opportunity opens.

Give what you have
Small things make a place feel like home, and your group can provide them together.
NEIGHBORS & GROUPS
Furnish a first home
A first apartment starts with the basics: pots and pans, towels, bedding, a lamp. Donate move-in essentials or organize a kit drive so every neighbor walks into a home that’s ready to live in. Kits are matched to needs, never names.
CLUBS, CONGREGATIONS & SCHOOLS
Organize your group
Campus clubs, faith communities, schools, and businesses can organize together: host a move-in kit drive, raise money for the Flexible Housing Assistance Fund, connect us with property owners, or invite the HOPE Team to speak.
“I’ll show them my keys.”

Lend your voice
Durham changes when people talk about what’s possible. Help carry the story further.
RESIDENTS & NEIGHBORS
Spread the word
Share neighbors’ stories, forward the monthly update, and talk about the kind of city Durham is becoming. Our share kit has ready-to-post graphics, a short description of the work, and talking points for newsletters, bulletins, and social media.
SECTOR LEADERS
Clear the path
Champion the work through the Champions Table — using your authority, networks, and access to resources to clear barriers no single agency can move alone. Champions commit to two or three path-clearing actions a year.

Shape the work
The people closest to the system see what others miss. Help us build it better.
PEOPLE WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE
Shape the system
Join the Lived Experience Advisory Group and shape system design, decisions, and accountability. Whether the framework works for the people it’s built to serve is its single most important measure of success.
PROVIDER AGENCIES
Work the cases with us
Participate in case conferencing, the Executive Table, and Communities of Practice. Help turn the by-name list into one meaningful step for every neighbor — every week — and surface the barriers that need clearing.
